Ontario's Maple Leaf Chord Company Competes at the International Seniors Festival at the Barbershop Harmony Society's, 2017 Midwinter Convention in San Antonio Texas
Early in 2016, an invitation went out to all of the Ontario chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society, for men of ages 55 and over, to come together and form a Seniors Barbershop Chorus. The chorus was given the name Maple Leaf Chord Company, and was formed with the intention of going down to San Antonio, Texas, with two songs under their belt to compete in the International Seniors Festival at the Barbershop Harmony Society's , 2017 Midwinter Convention, which was scheduled to take place from January 17th to the 22nd in 2017.
The chorus was directed by a well known and accomplished person, Ray Danely, and the following men from the Strathroy chapter took up the challenge and joined the chorus: Frank Knoll, Orval Allen, Jim McDougall, Ron Smith, and John Gough. The chorus was brought together to practice on a few occasions throughout 2016, at different localities in Ontario each time, but for the most part, each member practiced on his own at home. It all worked out fine, such that they came in second while competing with for other choruses. Click on the folling link to check the scores:

As you can see in the rankings, our Ontario's Seniors Chorus got the same rating as Vocal Seniority, but Vocal Seniority took first place due to some technicality that was used by judges to break the tie. What follows are the videos of the two songs performed by the Maple Leaf Chord Company during the competition. Enjoy.
