On September 16, 2022, the Strathroy Vocal Federation Barbershop Chorus sang the National Anthem prior to the start of the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs home opening game against Lucan at the Mt. Brydges Arena. Following the first period, they also sang a number of songs in the arena lobby. They were well accepted and it was good for the chorus members to get get out and sing for the public after such a long period off due to COVID - 19.
On Wedesday night, our director John Gough, presented Jim McDougall with his 57 year Membership Card. Jim is a founding member of the Strathroy Vocal Federation perhaps the most experienced barbershopper we have.

It is an awesome feeling experienced when four barbershoppers come together and nail it while singing a tag. A tag is just the ending of a song that is typically 4 to 8 bars long and is usually the best arranged part of a song, which is why barbershoppers enjoy singing them so much.

Four seasoned veterans sing Down By The Old Mill Stream (December 11, 2013)
For those of you who are not babershoppers, Down By The Old Mill Stream is one of 12 songs that where gathered together by the Barbershop Harmony Society back in 1971. The music for each song was published in a book and disturbed to all society members and it was stressed that each member learn all 12 songs. These 12 songs are known as Barberpole Cat songs; we simply call them "Polecats" and they make it possible for Society barbershoppers to come together and sing together with no preparation, no matter where they are and whether or not they know each other. It is an awesome feeling when these meetings happen.
